Karlye Flanagin
Brandon, MS, USA
Activities & Involvement:
I am involved in National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, and Beta club. I loved tutoring, community service, and competing in HOSA events.
Honors & Achievements:
Being in three clubs, I found my love for community service so I have well over 400 hours in my 4 years of high school. 150 hours coming from my senior year.
In HOSA, I’ve placed 5th & 3rd at 9th and 10th grade district competition. I also placed 1st at district and state my senior year in Dental Terminology.
Future Plans:
I plan on going to Jones County Junior College and majoring in Dental Hygiene. From there I will get my bachelor’s degree at University of Mississippi Medical Center’s program.
Proudest Moments:
I’m the only deaf/hearing impaired student in my senior class and have been since Kindergarten. I’ve learned to not only advocate for myself but for those who are younger than me. I’ve hoped to change the way people think about disabilities but instead the ability we have to change the world.
